His contributions were transformative, introducing pivotal features such as Synchronous Replication and Read Replica servers that elevated the PostgreSQL platform to new heights. As a leader, he not only facilitated technical advancements but also nurtured the growth of the developer community and secured vital funding for PostgreSQL's progression.

Beyond his technical expertise, Simon was a cornerstone of the community, playing a central role in organizing UK PostgreSQL conferences and actively contributing to its growth. His final speech at the PostgreSQL Conference Europe 2023 reminds us of his enduring impact.
